EXPLORATORIUM. BERLIN (GERMANY)

New discoveries in 2026

⭐️ We recommend as your first step > explorations: Aranda Reich with Irene Aranda (piano) and Maria IJ Reich (violin) on 11 January | 20:00 | exploratorium berlin | admission on donations ✨
.
💎 Trust in the words of others: “The effects IRENE ARANDA creates break through the emptiness and awaken the senses for a truly impressive improvisation in which styles overlap, both hands act independently of each other, intertwine, and technique shines in all its glory … It is amazing how naturally a composition of such density emerges and how melodies arise from it that lead to tempo changes and harmonic developments.” – Carlos Pérez | Cruz El Club de Jazz
.
💎 MARIA I.J. REICH is “embracing all sounds, dirty and rough, touching and lyrical, melodic and percussive. Reich sees the beauty in all of them, as well as their insconspicuous and imperceptible interdependence that weaves between all things.” – Eyal Hareuveni | Salt Peanuts

ENSEMBLE 50:50- LONDON (UNITED KINGDOM)

Ensemble 50:50 London:UK, Jan 10th 3pm Open Ealing - W5 2TD

The System 50:50 in Sound approach is simple, versatile, and flexible, making it applicable to ensembles of any size, often with minimal prior preparation.
In essence, System 50:50 in Sound for improvisers is a form of composition. Its primary function is to create a space—specifically, one shaped by silence.
Originally developed to address the limitations of free improvisation, the 50:50 system has now evolved into its own distinct discipline and method.

 Tuesday, 6. of January - 20:30h

Lehderstraße 74, Berlin Weißensee

Backyard at the very back left RED DOOR
This program brings together contemporary and classical traditions, and on the occasion of Alexander Scriabin’s birthday (6 January 1872), a solo is dedicated to him.
Set 1: filigree Duo Improvisation
Matthias Badczong - clarinet & Dietrich Petzold - violin/ viola
Dietrich Petzold and Matthias Badczong are classically trained musicians; Petzold works today across contemporary and applied music as a violinist, violist and composer in theatre, film and radio contexts, while Badzcong works today mainly in contemporary music as a clarinet and bass clarinet player, focusing on chamber music and ensemble work.
Set 2: „12 Improvised Études“ - inspired by the late works of Alexander Skrjabin
Isabel Anders - Piano Solo
The 12 Improvised Études shares aspects of Skrjabin´s approach to creating sound. Expressive intensity emerges through harmonic ambiguity, color and inherent tension. The Etudes develop — increasingly forward-driven, vivid, dramatically expressive and urgent, with rhythmic pulse and sharp accentuation; oscillating between veiled fragility, late-Romantic lyricism, and energetic intensity.
