ILOG, the Berlin turntable drum duo from Ignaz Schick and Oliver Steidle, plays the three-day concert series in the legendary MPS Studio with two international guests of uncompromising contemporary music.

27.2.2026 - Day 2: On the second evening, ILOG meets two influential voices on the European improvisation scene. The Estonian saxophonist and composer Maria Faust combines expressive lines with formal acuity and narrative power. Double bassist Ingebrigt Håker Flaten, long-time ILOG companion, brings a driving, rocking, pulsating bass into play. The result is an energetic field of tension consisting of rhythm, noise, free jazz and electro-acoustic compression.

With ILOG PLUS the turntable drum duo, which has existed since 2013, is planning Ignaz Schick and Oliver Steidle a three-day festival with 6 different guest musicians in the legendary MPS Studio to play in Villingen. ILOG has released three idiosyncratic studio albums (ILOG, ILOG2 & ILOG3) since 2013 & has developed a very independent form of electro-acoustic improvisational music since the beginning of their work, in which they carelessly let different, sometimes disparate stylistic elements (jazz, noise, electro-acoustic music, improvised music and experimental beats) collide & have thus developed a fresh & very energetic playing attitude. The international guest musicians are all protagonists from the younger and middle generation of experimental and improvised music, whose own playing style combines elements of ILOG represent, contrast or challenge. ILOG plans four 30-minute sets per evening on each of the three days: two trios with the guests, one in the original duo and a final quartet with both guests of the respective evening.

With the three-day festival Ignaz Schick and Oliver Steidle expand their well-rehearsed duo and their musical approach through the different ideas and playing styles of the individual guest musicians. All sets will be performed live in front of a small but interested audience and will be directly recorded and released on the fourth ILOG album to be edited and mixed. Schick and Steidle have given highly acclaimed concerts in Europe, Switzerland and the USA. Their musical development, which was initially characterized by power play, noise and free jazz, has become more and more refined and rhythmically differentiated over the years without losing its energy and freshness. After three studio albums, the fourth album is to be a live record to capture the intensity that this duo displays in a live situation. All invited international guests are musicians who are friends of the duo. ILOG have gotten to know in recent years on their tours or at festivals and who have enjoyed the work of ILOG know and appreciate.
