[DE] Musik will gelebt und gespürt werden. Musik braucht Aufregung, Reibung, Auseinandersetzung. Gerade jetzt, wenn eine existenzielle Krise von der nächsten abgelöst wird, ist es an der Zeit, Mut zu beweisen, Grenzen zu überschreiten und nach neuen Wegen zu suchen. Und so bringt A L'ARME! einmal mehr Künstler:innen mit unbeirrbarem Innovationswillen nach Berlin, für ein weiteres Fest kompromissloser Klänge.
Zehn Jahre A L'ARME! – das heißt zehn Jahre Innovation durch Improvisation und Kollaboration, zehn Jahre Klangforschung durch physische und akustische Immersion. Die große Jubiläumsausgabe Vol. X findet vom 10. bis 13. August im Silent Green sowie im Radialsystem in Berlin statt. Das internationale Festival für alles außer Status quo und falsche Sicherheiten präsentiert sich dabei so vielfältig wie nie zuvor.
Das Programm schlägt einen Bogen von Blackjazz über Sound-Art und Elektronik hin zu den aktuellsten Jazzcodes. Die norwegische Band Shining performt ihren ungestümen Avantgarde-Metal, der speziell mit dem Album „Blackjazz“ aus dem Jahr 2010 den entscheidenden Impuls für die Entstehung von A L'ARME! gegeben hatte. Diese Energie greift bei Vol. X unter anderem die US-Amerikanerin Moor Mother auf, die samt Ensemble die Weltpremiere ihres Werks „Jazz Codes“ feiern wird. Erstmals in Berlin zu erleben sind außerdem die Trios Claire Rousay / Macie Stewart / Ken Vandermark sowie Anja Lauvdal / Heida Johannesdottir / Maja S.K. Ratkje. Die Bassistin Farida Amadou kehrt nach ihrem umjubelten Auftritt im letzten Jahr mit einer neuen Formation zurück, die Schlagzeugerin Katharina Ernst zeigt die Premiere einer A/V-Show ihres Bandkollektivs Ventil.
Der Vielklang dieser und zahlreicher weiterer Künstler:innen öffnet bei A L'ARME! Vol. X einmal mehr Raum für das Unerwartete, für neuen Mut und neue Ideen. Welche Perspektiven eröffnet experimentelle Musik auf die Krisen im 21. Jahrhundert? Finden wir es gemeinsam heraus!
[EN] Music is something that needs to be experienced. It requires excitement, friction, and confrontation. Especially right now, in our current moment, when one existential crisis follows the next—now is the time to show courage, cross boundaries, and blaze new trails. And so A L’ARME! will once again be bringing a host of unwaveringly innovative artists to Berlin for yet another festival of uncompromising sound.
Ten years of A L’ARME!—that means ten years of innovation through improvisation and collaboration, ten years of sound research through physical and acoustic immersion. The big anniversary edition Vol. X will take place from August 10 to 13 at Silent Green as well as Radialsystem in Berlin. This year, the international festival for anything but the status quo or a false sense of security will be more diverse than ever before.
The programme builds a bridge from metal to sound art and electronica all the way to jazz and spoken word. The Norwegian band Shining, whose 2010 album Blackjazz played a decisive role in inspiring us to create A L’ARME!, will perform their fierce avant garde metal.
At Vol. X, this energy will be taken up by artists like the American poet and musician Moor Mother, who, together with an ensemble, will celebrate the world premiere of her work Jazz Codes. Furthermore, the trios of Claire Rousay/Macie Stewart/Ken Vandermark and Anja Lauvdal/Heida Johannesdottir/Maja S.K. Ratkje will both be performing in Berlin for the first time ever. After her acclaimed performance last year, bassist Farida Amadou will be returning with a new ensemble, while drummer Katharina Ernst will premiere her musical collective Ventil’s audio-visual show.
At A L’ARME! Vol. X, the polyphonic chorus of these and many other artists will once again create space for the unexpected, for renewed courage and for new ideas. What perspective can experimental music offer us on the crises of the 21st century? Let’s find out together!
